Can you tell which font is used? If so, can you write a simple web page
specifying that font and see how it's rendered with firebird or mozilla?
BTW, is this a regression or has it been like this?

The font used is the Apple Gothic monospace font.

It's not a thunderbird specific, then. I'm changing the product and the
component. BTW, can I download the font somewhere? Is it a part of Mac OS X (I
know AppleGothic is bundled with Mac OS X, but I'm not sure of AppleGothic
Monospace)?

reassigning to myself for the now.
BTW, can you take a screenshot of attachment 145270 [details]?
I don't think it'd not make any difference, but it'd be nice if you can also add
to the file before taking a screenshot.

<span style="font-family: AppleGothic Monospace">......</span>
Note that 'font' tag was deprecated.

I don't think it is a thunderbird specific either after testing it on the Firefox.
I once changed the monospace font for the Firefox to AppleGothic instead of
the AppleGothic monospace. I didn't remember it and therefore I didn't see the
problem with the Firefox. However once I change the font, the problem arises.
so.. this problem seems to be a problem with the core.
FYI, AppleGothic monospace is also bundled with the MacOS X.

I can't attach the AppleGothic monospace font.
If you really need one and can't find it on your MacOS X machine, then I can
send it to you.

I don't have a Mac so that I can't test it on Mac, but I can see what's possibly
wrong with fonts on other platforms with some font tools. What happens if you
install AppleGothic and AppleGothic Mono on Windows or Linux?

Where can I download 'AppleGothic Monospace' font? Is it the one made by
'gulbi'(?)? Now that I have a Power Mac G5, I can test it myself.
Is this bug a recent regression or do old builds (1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7alpha) have
the same problem?

If I remember it correct, it appeared from 1.6 code.
Well.. after hearing from you where the font is obtained from, yeah.. probably I
got it from the Albireo's web site, and it could be Gulbi's font. Probably I
didn't remove it.
Then.. other Korean fonts work well?
If so, I'm sorry because you may had hard time to get PowerMac G5.
I will check it again.
