This is an enhancement request. I would like Thunderbird to underline or
otherwise somehow notify me while composing a message what it thinks is
misspelled. It would recheck words as I correct them and turn on or off the
highlighting as appropriate.
Large chunks of my email contain source code, and plenty of other parts contain
acronyms, proper nouns and other things that Thunderbird does not know about. I
am afraid that teaching it about these words would render the spell checker
useless, as nearly every combination of strings of five letters would be in the
dictionary and nothing would get flagged as misspelled. One perfectly good
example is passwd.
So, instead of running the spell checker through my emails, if I could just see
what Thunderbird thinks is misspelled, I can verify it on my own quickly.
This is the same spelling feature that Evolution has.
