Outlook Express bundles with an option where a user can download a file which will automatically setup email account settings for a specific email account on a server. Asides from simplifying an often daunting process for a new user, it can make life a lot easier. Aswell as other programs, hosting software Cpanel offers this feature to users (http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/configuringOutlookExpressReadEmail.htm). If thunderbird could add this functionality i'm sure it would be much appreciated by admins as well as users, with significant time savings for both parties.

Thunderbird should be able to handle the .iaf files of Outlook Express (or something similar) as well. That would make it independant of the prefs.js file that changes somewhat from a version to another.
