I use the calendar a lot for repeated events which I need to work on every day
or week. I need these reminders to keep all task and events in mind. The problem
is, that the calendar got very slow now. The performance for browsing through
the daily view is good, for the weekly view is acceptable but for the montly
view it takes up to 5 to 7 seconds to jump from one month to another.
I know that this problem is due to the amount of repeated events. Nevertheless,
I would really appreciate if the performance would increase. Thanks!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. For every day create 3 or 4 events which are repeated daily.
2. For every day of the week create 2 or 3 events which are repeated weekly.
3. Create more events which are repeated monthly, in 2 weeks frequency or
yearly. Use different settings for the repetition.
4. Browse through daily view => Good speed
5. Browse through weekly view => Ok speed, but could be improved
6. Browse through montly view => Very bad speed
Actual Results:
See as described in steps 4. to 6.
Expected Results:
Improve performance for the monthly view as well as for the weekly view.
I use Mozilla 1.7RC2 and Calendar 2004040813-cal

I wonder whether this is actually specific to the fact that they are repeated events. If not, then this is
probably a duplicate of bug 198142. Someone would need to get calendars with equal numbers of
events, only one set largely consisting of duplicates to test this, though.

I think you're right.
I have created a calendar that contains one event every day for three months
(created one-by-one, so there's no recurring events)
I see the same sympthoms as the reporter, a small delay (~2 secs) while browsing
between the months in monthly view, an even smaller delay while browsing in
weekly view, and no delay while browsing in daily view.
So I guess it's a duplicate of bug 198142
