When sending email, I want to be able to set my "From:" address appropriate to the list to which I'm sending email. To accomplish this, I'd need either: a) An editable text window that I can type into, or b) A way to have a secondary list of "permissible From addresses" that are not their own account. ie, won't need a server to connect to. I know there's some risk here of forging addresses, but even if you held it all to be "@foo.bar" for an account user@foo.bar, then it's less of an issue. (Perhaps each account could contain a list of other LHS's that should be allowed?) In my case, I'm content with just letting me select a "+foo" tag for the LHS of my address. That's all I'm using. But that's not a sufficiently interesting feature to spend the energy implementing, IMHO.
IMO a dupe of Bug 87987.
Actually, looking around a bit more from that starting point, I think my real desire for this bug is a dup of bug #44863, which is marked as RESOLVED. Perhaps we should change this bug to track the inclusion of that fix into Thunderbird? Otherwise, I guess you can just mark it as a dup of bug 44863. Thanks.
