Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Build Identifier: News article threading is done identically to Netscape product, but they do it incorrectly. Threading should be based only on the References: header. If an article has no References: header but uses the same subject string as an existing thread, it is a NEW thread. (I have been a Usenet administrator for 19 years, and have great hopes that Thunderbird can become a *good* browser-based newsreader.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In a test newsgroup, compose a NEW message but type the Subject line to match an existing subject (like "Test"). 2. 3. Actual Results: When the article is displayed (after clicking Get Mail) it will appear in the display of the existing strand. That's wrong -- it should be treated as a new thread. (It is the responsibility of the newsreader to do the threading based on the headers stored on the NNTP server for the article.) Expected Results: The new article should be displayed separately from the existing strand since it was posted as a new article, not as a follow-up.
