I don't know what's going on with bug 233778 comment 1, or if bug 246746 is
invalid, or if the start/ page won't break again, but browser dection is
freaking bad. Let's ban browser detection site-wide, and if that's a problem,
work on the language, not the code.

I agree it's something to be avoided where possible, but I think it's justified
in some places - for example, the start page and update.mozilla.org.
I guess part of the problem is that it's not possible for "us" to see what's
happening. Best thing is probably to leave the people that own those sections to
handle them.

Update.mozilla.org uses browser detection to provide useful content by default,
as the site is dynamic. It doesn't interfere with the users experience though,
if the proxy didn't break it. heh. So that bug is valid.
Per Bug 247672 Comment #3 from Gerv: "We are not going to stop using it - so
you can mark bug 247672 as WONTFIX." So i'm going to do that. Reopen if
something changed between that comment and now. :-)
