I've checked in a skeleton page. Feel free to improve it. Bug 248730 has been added about changing the URL on the 1.7 branch. Gerv
Japanese translation checked in. Please add a link to http://jt.mozilla.gr.jp/start/1.7/

Well the "skeleton" looks fine to me. I just fixed a couple of "1.6" numbers on the get started/migrate page that's linked. What else actually needs to be done to mark this fixed?
- fix bug 66387 - use http://mozilla.org/themes/download/ for theme download (so we only need to change one page for URL change) - use support template instead of about template - (and revert the change Michael just did :-( )
Hi, Thank you Grev for doing this. It looks very helpful to end users. I love it also.
Hi, Lets not force prople to view it though. If they want to view the http://www.mozilla.org/start page lets let them not redirect them to this mozilla.org/start/1.7 page. That is my only complaint.
> - use http://mozilla.org/themes/download/ for theme download (so we only need to > change one page for URL change) Actually, I changed away from that page on purpose. There are no themes I could find on Freshmeat - everyone uses themes.mozdev.org anyway. And that intermediate page looks like no other on our site - it's really weird. Gerv
"(and revert the change Michael just did :-( )" Oops - sorry. I assumed that was just something that had been overlooked - I didn't noticed you'd deliberately changed it (which I see now from the history). I'm not sure why it should say "1.6" though - that page is linked from the start pages for 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7. Either we need separate pages for each one, or the page should be generic and refer to "1.x"
This seems to be fixed. However, the page in question does a terrible job at validating. We might want to move the script outside the document to an external file.
general, browser, mail&news, and 1/2 of profile sections of new FAQ cleaned up: http://wangrepublic.org/mozilla_faq_beta/official/faq/ I still need to add questions from faqpile.txt and other new questions that might come up in support forums (which I haven't been visiting). Hopefully, 1.7 & 1.8 FAQs will be ready for the 1.8 launch.
fantasai, /start/1.7/faq/ is a weird place to put FAQs. Once this is finished, can we have URLs like /support/mozilla/1.7/faq ?

You've got my approval on that URL, Daniel. :) Just make sure redirects are set up correctly as necessary?
"If you are on Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9, then you should use Mozilla 1.0.2." OS 9.x could use the 1.2.1 release. Unless that version was particulary unstable, of course.
"OS 9.x could use the 1.2.1 release. Unless that version was particulary unstable, of course." 1.2 wasn't as stable as 1.0.x, but I think the main reason for that statement was that (IIRC) 1.0.2 actually came later than 1.2, and included more security fixes. I'm not sure it's a good idea to recommend any version at this point, as they all have serious security flaws that have been published.
sorry, I commented in the wrong bug. FAQ bug is bug 66387. > "If you are on Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9, then you should use Mozilla 1.0.2." line fixed. I'll keep this bug open for markup fixes. Reassign to Anne.
