Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/20040623
I was sorting my bookmarks and accidentally selected "Sort Folder By Name" in
the right click menu.
I frantically pressed "Ctrl + Z" to try to undo this, but it didn't work.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a bookmarks folder with tons of bookmarks
2. Choose "Sort Folder By Name" or "Sort Folder" and press "ok"
3. Cry as your painstakingly arranged bookmarks go haywire
Actual Results:
My bookmarks remained sorted by name
Expected Results:
My old bookmark sorting should have returned

Would the keyword "dataloss" be appropriate? Sorting order is arguable a form of
data.
a similar problem was the issue in bug 88347, where it turned out that a third
click on the relevant column reset to original sort order. Is that not the case
with the "Name" column?

If I choose "Sort Folder By Name", clicking on the "Name" column repeatedly does
nothing to restore the original sort order.
Known issue, see related Bug 209198.

209198 - WFM. I can't reproduce the bug on my current build.
This is a different issue.

Keep the "sort by name" functionality give us a new and unique key-combo to make
it happen.
Keep the old command-n (Mac) for "New Navigator Window"

This is a Firefox bug as well, but I don't think there's a way to mark it as a
bug for both Seamonkey and Firefox (?)

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20050930 Firefox/1.4
Choosing "Sort by name" on the Bookmarks Manager context menu (as opposed to
clicking on the "name" column) is still irreversible.
I tried to refile this as a core bug, but I don't know where this fits; please
assist.

FF has/will fork BM code, so it is not a Core bug. But i can confirm it with SeaMonkey 1.5a trunk build 2005122111 on WinXP and did not found an existing report.

Now, if you accidentally sort bookmarks by some column you can twice click same column and this removes sorting, so closing as WFM
