Firefox should provide a button in Tools->Options->Advanced for accessing the
about:config functionality. Typing a magic url in the address bar is an
inelegant way of accessing miscellaneous preferences.

about:config isn't elegant, period. It exists solely for power user types that
want to configure hidden prefs. The vast majority of users don't want
to/shouldn't touch these settings, therefore we're not going to expose this to them.
