It would be really cool if a Mac volunteer tried to write a profile migrator for
mail.app similar to the one I just wrote for migration from the mozilla suite
(See Bug #248047). The framework and the UI is all in place, one would just need
to write the OS X specific code to find the mail.app settings and turn them into
mozilla profile settings.
cc'ing some possible Mac volunteers.

nominally putting in the 0.9 bucket. But I won't be getting to this before 1.0.
It will get pushed off unless someone else gives it the old college try.

I'm willing to take a stab at this.

Haven't used the existing migration tools... is mail mirgation part of this, or
only the account/server info? I'm tinkering with importing the mail, preserving
folder names/nesting. Didn't see a specific bug for mail import.

Sorry, ignore. Read the linked Bug #248047, found it in source.

this will get driven by the community and not by me if it happens...
Target Milestone: Thunderbird1.1 → Thunderbird1.5
The address of Mail.app is managed with AdressBook.

Changing dependency from the old thunderbird specific bug 218145, to the core
bug (moved from suite) bug 203927.

This bug has been on the backburner for a while mostly due to bug 303319 (which, if fixed, would make it much easier to implement the emlx-parsing).

Nominating wanted-thunderbird3 to keep it on the radar.

wanted‑thunderbird3- since it seems unlikely to make it for tb3 (e.g. a few unresolved blockers for this)
wanted- doesn't indicate we wouldn't accept patches.
Depends on: 303319
Flags: wanted-thunderbird3+ → wanted-thunderbird3-
