Livemarks currently don't use the existing scheduling and notification
mechanism; we should use it, and set the default schedule based on the TTL of
the feed.

This is a very important bug... The tags such as "ttl", "skipDays" and
"skipHours" give webmasters much more flexibility (and saves a TON of bandwidth
if you are running a large site that provides free RSS feeds)

Please make this a priority for the next version. It really is important. It's
like having a robot crawling the web without looking at robots.txt... a bit
unethical!
Also updateBase and updateFrequency are properties that should, at some point in
the distant future, be obeyed.

sorry for bugspam, long-overdue mass reassign of ancient QA contact bugs, filter on "beltznerLovesGoats" to get rid of this mass change

Morphing to just the in-content caching elements, since what this was originally filed about, using the (long-disabled in Firefox) bookmarks scheduled checking code, isn't possible since it's gone now.

And just in case anyone looking for a solution here doesn't already know: Firefox does honor HTTP caching headers (the same Cache-Control/Expires headers you use for your HTML and images and whatnot) for live bookmarks, a well-specified system which actually works, unlike all the reinventions in feed formats, all of which have serious or fatal flaws.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.

just as a side note, I made some experiment with ttl, but results are completely useless, most feed don't define it, those who do have it set to like 1 minute, that is not really what we want.
Since we don't plan to be a full-featured rss reader, we are not supposed to spend time implementing all of rss properties.
