There's a new relase. The updated XPI is available at http://downloads.us-east3.mozdev.org/optimoz/nightly/mozgest_20040725.xpi or http://download.mozdev.org/optimoz/nightly/mozgest_20040725.xpi Note: MozGest is compatible with the Mozilla Suite 1.4+ (it has the appropriate targetApplication entries). Additionally, I'd like to have the following description: --- Allows you to execute common commands (like page forward/backward, close tab, new tab) by mouse gestures drawn over the current webpage, without reaching for the toolbar or the keyboard. You can also use "rocker" gestures - for example hold the right mouse button, then click left to go back a page. Additionally, it offers optional "wheel rockers" that are triggered by holding a mouse button and scrolling the mouse wheel. The Mouse Gestures extension allows you to easily add, remove and edit all gesture mappings. It even allows you to write your own gesture functions in JavaScript or add those others provided by clicking special links on web pages. --- If there's a separate short description for the listings pages, just use the first sentence (up to "keyboard").
There is no separate short description. Your long description is probably going to be too long.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here... but why does the Update site still list 0.9.20040608 and has the install link point to it? On the "Other versions" page, the new 0.9.20040725 is listed. Oh, and by the way: on that page, for the new version, there is exactly one link for each target app (3 total). However, the old version has two links for Firefox and two for Thunderbird (5 total)!
Please see bug 248919. The two Thunderbirds is a different bug that I haven't filed yet.

Does anybody know why Mouse Gestures does not appear when visiting UMO with Mozilla 1.7.3 and leaving the "Versions:" drop-down set to "Auto-Detect"? It only appears after setting "Versions" to "Mozilla 1.7.x", despite the fact that the Mouse Gestures entry reads "Works with: 1.4 - 1.7.x"... Is Auto-Detect broken somehow? Additionally, I would like to have the current XPI replaced, without updating any database information (like version, release date and so on). The reason is a small bug in the Seamonkey install script that I fixed. Is this replacement possible? I put up the updated XPI at http://downloads.us-east3.mozdev.org/optimoz/mozgest_1_0.xpi

Wolf - Can you drop in an updated XPI? Will we have a problem with mirroring because it has the same name? In which case we can give the xpi a new name and change the DB entry.

(In reply to comment #6) > Wolf - > > Can you drop in an updated XPI? Will we have a problem with mirroring because > it has the same name? In which case we can give the xpi a new name and change > the DB entry. I can drop it in. which I just did. ;-) (mozgest_1_0.xpi replaced w/ one from the URL provided). The mirrors will sync the file as they'll know the modification date/time changed. Its mostly the website tools that have issues w/ same-name situations. Though normally, the procedure for this should be to simply remove/readd the same version w/ the new file. (the new scripts for developers support this much better than the current, and properly remove the old records for you. ) Thus, not having to bug an admin/editor to manage the files on the mirrors.
Thanks a lot, Wolf! Your occasional "sneak-peeks" of the upcoming developer section become more interesting each time :-) Can you already make a guess when it will be finished? And do you have any information on the Moz1.7.3 problem I described in comment 5?
(In reply to comment #8) > And do you have any information on the Moz1.7.3 problem I described in comment 5? Well, when "auto-detect" is selected, despite what you'd think it'd mean, it actually means the opposite. heh. You probably assumed (as I would) that it means the site is detecting your browser version and showing you that list. If it had detected the version though, it'd select the version from that drop-down. "Auto-Detect" just happens to be a the top and appears when no other version was selected. Browser detection fails on 1.7.x versions (or any subminor version). It doesn't catch that 1.7.3 = 1.7 properly. Though you can select 1.7.x and skip the detection and have it work just fine. Not seeing anything else to do here, resolving as fixed.
