User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040729 Firefox/0.9.1+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040729 Firefox/0.9.1+

Sometimes, when opening a second tab the location bar in the first tab loses the
favicon.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open www.yahoo.com, wait till the site fully loads and untill the favicon
shows in the location bar
2. Open a new tab by File > New tab.
3. Go back to the first tab
Actual Results:
The first tab which had www.yahoo.com opened, loses the favicon in the location bar.

Expected Results:
The yahoo favicon should still display in the location bar
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040729
Firefox/0.9.1+

Confirming this bahaviour

It does not loose the icon:
-if you open the second tab with double left-click
-if you open the second tab in any way from bookmarks

the icon is lost from the urlbar, but still present in the tab

I can still reproduce it without any extensions.

I still see this in this installer build
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040907
Firefox/1.0 PR (NOT FINAL)
BTW, this used to work in 0.9.3 so it's not soemthing old.
I can't reproduce this bug.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040911 Firefox/0.10 (ax)
I don't exactly know why some people can't reproduce this. I can still reproduce
it on two xp pro with sp2 machines. Maybe it is specific to xp.
1. close all firefox instances.
2. open one firefox windows.
3. open www.google.com
4. open a new empty tab.
5. Directly go to back to the first tab.
The google favicon is gone from the location bar but is still on the tab.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10
(still my old Firefox 0.9 Milestone profile)

I have been trying like mad , with google and other sites in the first tab but I
cannot reproduce this anymore.
I can finally reproduce it. Seems to only happen once though unless you
completely exit firefox then open it back up and try it again.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040912 Firefox/0.10
not blocking 1.0, but I have most of a fix done.

I just submitted Bug 273136. It indicates a special case where this particular
bug is still present. However, Bug 273136 also describes a drag and drop issue
not mentioned here.
vladimir, did you ever get a fix for this that could land on the trunk?
Flags: blocking-aviary1.1?
I don't think we'd block the release of 1.1 for this. We'd certainly consider a
patch for inclusion though.

I just wrote a forum post about my experience with this bug:

"the favicon for my blog site displays properly in the FF browser address bar
ONLY when I first open my main blog pg. If, for example, I switch to another tab
in FF, then the favicon no longer displays in the address bar when I return to
my blog's tab. I can get the favicon to redisplay by clicking Reload.

The favicon will not display at all in the tab bar"

A fellow WordPress user posted this fix for the bug to me:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/36941#post-209479 .

This bug is old. Cannot reproduce via any method of new tab creation or tab-switching in 2.0.0.6. Invalid?
Marking invalid this seems to have been broken only on firefox 1.5 or earlier. It appears to be fixed in 2.0.x
