Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040807 Firefox/0.9.1+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040807 Firefox/0.9.1+
To install new themes I go to Mozilla.org/firefox and click on the "Get Themes"
link. From there I cannot determine which themes work on a Mac. When I select
all and filter for MacOSX themes the same themes keep showing. These themes
download but do not show in the themes dilaog that pops up next, or
Tools->Themes. When I go to Firefox->Preferences... and choose Themes, some of
the themes that failed to show under Tools->Themes, do show. Most of them can be
choses and applied but then the scrollbar becomes a grey rectangle and I cannot
see where the scroller is to scroll the page. I tried many builds and up to the
latest nighty, they all have this problem. Only the default theme "that I do not
like" and Saferfox work. Themes like Noia Extreme, that used to work, do not
work any more (even the latest update fails).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Goto Mozilla.org/firefox.
2. Select "Get Themes".
3. Install a theme, after filtering for MacOSX themes.
Actual Results:
The theme downloads, but nothing is shown in the Themes dialog that pops up.
With luck, the theme will show under Firefox->Preferences..., but I get no
scroll bars after I apply the theme.
Expected Results:
I expected the theme to show in both Theme manager & Preferences. I also
expected the theme to install and work right, allow me to see scrollbars
P.S. The Qute theme, installs but Firefox always reverts back to the default
theme, after I close the application and launch it again. While it is working, I
can spawn new windows and they get the Qute theme applied to them, until I close
the Firefox.

Have you tried installing a theme on a new profile?
"/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -ProfileManager" in your Terminal.

I have deleted my profile and let Firefox create a new one. Themes do not even install now. None
installs. I downloaded the latest nightly and still, no theme installs at all.
Could you try testing theme installation with an Aviary branch build, I'm not
sure the trunk is up to date in that area.
Summary: Firefox theme insallation is unreliable → Firefox theme installation is unreliable

You were correct, the Branch does allow me to install Themes. Just 1 problem, on
the Mac, only Saferfox, Noia Extreme, Noia Yop & the default theme work right.
Themes like, Qute, iCandy Junior and most other themes, show their icons, but
will not show a scroll bar with scroller. I get a grey rectangle in place of a
scroll bar and no scroller in it.
The scrollbar bug on Mac is a known problem (Bug 222654), I'll mark this bug as
a duplicate of that one. See also Bug 252294 for hiding these themes from Mac
users on http://update.mozilla.org/
