User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3 Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/sunbird/nightly/2004-08-16/SunbirdSetup.exe I did a fresh install of Sunbird, and when opening the file it crashed and restarted repeatedly, and very rapidly (about 2-3 tomes per second.) This made it impossible to kill (kill needs a PID, the restarts have newPIDs.) No error messages were displayed. Rebooting kills it. Uninstall and reinstall has no effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Sunbird. 2. Try to run it. Actual Results: The crash-restart loop described above. Expected Results: Started. If you delete <installdir>/extensions/installed-extensions-processed.txt while it is continously crashing, would that stop the crashes?

I can reproduce this Bug. When I try to start Sunbird it crashes and restarts repeatedly. When I disable my Firewall (Kerio Personal Firewall 4) it stopps restarting. But Sunbird still refuses to start (I can see it in the Task-Manager but it does nothing). I tried several Builds (including http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/sunbird/nightly/2004-08-16/SunbirdSetup.exe) all producing the same Error.
This seems to be a bug in the Installer. When I use a zipped Version everything is fine for me!

Same here, using latest installer from Sept. 7th under WinXP+Sp1 caused the described bug, using the ZIP solved the issue. Nice and promising app, looking forward to the coming milestones...

I'm seeing this with the 20041101 zip build here http://www.babylonsounds.com/sunbird/sunbird_2004-11-01.zip Continual crash and restart cycle on startup. Had to go to task manager processes tab and be real quick to kill it. Clean profile, clean install. The 20040907 build still works fine.
Quick note to anyone having an issue End Task-ing a constantly restarting Sunbird.exe: Go to Program Files\Sunbird (or where ever you installed it). Rename the Sunbird.exe to _sunbird.exe and the process will stop without having to be quick on the End Task button. </public safety announcement>
Also if you create a file named components.ini with these contents in your profile directory ( e.g. Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Sunbird ): [Extra Files] Count=0 the endless restarting will halt

I can confirm on MacOS X 10.3 (Latest patches and all) when I try and run it from the command line I get: *** loading the extensions datasource repeating numerous times until i rename the sunbird file to _sunbird.

There is a new installer for Sunbird 0.3a1 available at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird_download.html Can someone please test there and see if this bug still exists?
