found using 2004082615-0.9+ bits of firefox (aviary1.0 branch) on linux fedora core 2. it's very similar to bug 255060, but am not sure if it's the same. Marcia, could you see if this is also an issue on Mac? thanks! 0. I have Opera 7.54 installed as well as Mozilla 1.7.2 1. remove (or rename) ~/.mozilla directory. 2. start up Opera, and do the following tasks: - surf to some sites to get cookies and global history (google.com, cnn.com, etc.) - add a bookmark or three - sign on to some site(s) and save passwds 3. quit Opera. 4. start Firefox. expected: should get the Migration Wizard. actual results: no migration wizard appears. firefox just loads the start page (for a vanilla new, unmigrated profile).
the workaround I did to get migration to work was: - before step 1, run mozilla --which (re)creates ~/.mozilla

oh on Mac, the Migration wizard doesn't even offer an option for Opera; see bug 257445.
This should have worked in the past, so may be a regression.

make sure we consider opera in the fallback list, also fail less aggressively. ensure the "no source" option is shown in the right cases as well.
