User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.8
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.8

When I am browsing using tabs, quite often I will open links in other tabs to
read later. If the host is not found, then an error dialog like this appears and
takes focus from what I'm doing.

"www.example.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again."

This is intrusive and annoying (it might not sound like much, but clicking 'OK'
to that box really gets to me after a while). To make it worse, if I then switch
to the tab that caused the error, the URL that caused the error does not appear
in the location bar.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use right-click to open a broken link.
2. Wait for "Loading..." to switch to "(Untitled)" on the tab.
Actual Results:
The alert dialog appears and steals focus.

Expected Results:
The error should be displayed as if it were a web page, instead of with a dialog
box (and the URL should not be removed from the tab's location bar).

You can use the built in errorpages by setting the
browser.xul.error_pages.enabled pref to "true" in about:config. This gets rid of
the popups, but the error pages are still quite buggy.

See bug 237244, bug 229737, bug 226401 and others.

Thanks, changing that pref pretty much solves my issues, and it all works fine
for me. Are there any plans to make that setting the default in the future (once
the bugs are ironed out)?
Verifying old and obvious dupes. Sorry for bugspam.
