When switching between tabs, the currently selected tab text turns bold. Many times, this causes the text to overflow the bounds of the tab since it is wider than the non-bold text. The text changes so that the truncated portion (...) starts sooner to allow the text to fit into the tab. However, this does not happen instantaneously and results in the text literally overflowing the tab for a split second before the truncation recalculation. The appearance is unprofessional, something to be expected from GTK+ ported to Windows perhaps, but not Mozilla chrome. This seems to be a regression (maybe a month ago?), because I don't remember it happening in the past... Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040912 Firefox/0.9.1+

Yes, I think I know what you mean. This was also reported in bug 255899, I think. But that one has the regression date and some images to show the bug. So I think ik would be better if that bug could be confirmed (and this bug marked as duplicate).
