Details
After a clean upgrade from 0.73 to 0.8 Thunderbird fails to download new
messages when the get mail button (or menu) is used. Messages are sent out ok,
but no messages are downloaded, nor is an error reported.
The fix seems to be to turn on secure authentication. After doing this mail
comes in just fine. This seems to imply that the mail server is requiring secure
authentication? Since checking mail without that option simply fails silently, I
think at minimum an error message should be reported.
