seen on linux Firefox trunk build 2004-09-21-09-trunk -Right click any bookmark in any view. tested results: no context menu appears expected results: the appropriate context menu appears there is a workaround of sorts: -This workaround is easiest to reproduce on the right most bookmark in the Bookmark toolbar. -Right click that bookmark, then move the cursor to the right of the bookmark on the toolbar, then down to the place where the context menu is expected to appear. If done carefully(see note below), the context menu does does appear. note: If, after right click, you move the cursor into the content area of the browser, the context menu will not appear. I haven't been able to workaround in the bookmarks sidebar or bookmarks manager
It's worse on Windows. workaround doesn't work. Mac is also broken, but is a little forgiving with cursor movement in the toolbar workaround. no platform works in bookmarks sidebar or manager.

This is also affecting Mozilla trunk builds. It also affects tab context menus.

Using Mozilla 1.8a4 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040921, I am getting weird behavior in the URL bar pulldown, not sure if it is related to this bug or not. I am seeing the same strangeness on Windows XP. Eventually the URL bar pulldown comes up, but there is a significant delay. On the Mac, if you click on the arrow in the URL pulldown it just disappears - poof.
1.8a4: 2004092010 is showing this bug on Win98, wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040918 same time frame: Bug 260717 To: in Create Mail windows invisible
another observation (perhap related?) while using 2004092107-trunk on linux: bring up the context menu (using mouse) fails to appear until the 3rd time I [right-]click to bring it up for the following areas: * location bar * web content area * tab widget * textfields (chrome or web content) very odd. would this be the same as this bug, or should it be filed separately? just as Tracy reported, though, I'm unable to bring up the context menu at all for items in the personal (bookmarks) toolbar, bookmarks sidebar (history is fine) or bookmarks manager.
nominating, per Asa's comment on IRC. bzbarsky's comment in Bug 260717 indicates that the context menu busted between the morning of the 19th and the morning of the 20th.

oh, interesting: on linux (don't have windows to check atm), shift-f10 and the context menu key fail to bring up the context menu --in either web content or chrome (ie, textfields in chrome). related?
(In reply to comment #7) > oh, interesting: on linux (don't have windows to check atm), shift-f10 and the > context menu key fail to bring up the context menu --in either web content or > chrome (ie, textfields in chrome). related? although, oddly, this isn't a problem in mailnews or composer: the keyboard shortcuts work there.

Just as a point of reference, when I was testing on the Mac G5 I did *eventually* get the context menus to come up, but only after a significant delay.
oh, the patch in bug 260657 seems to fix this one, according to the comments in bug 68841.

hrm, well shift-f10 and the context menu key still don't work on linux (2004092206-trunk) and it doesn't consistently work on mac os x (ctrl+spacebar; used 2004092205-trunk). (oddly, works fine for Asa on Windows.) should I open a new bug for that, or reopen this?
