Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Build Identifier: 1.8.a4 trying to open a window that's minimized in the dock by way of the menubar, the window doesn't open, and the menubar's window item stays highlited. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.minimize window to dock 2.select that window in menubar's window list Actual Results: window doesn't open, and the menubar's window item stays highlited. Expected Results: window should open, and the menubar's window item doesn't stay highlited.
It reproduces also by Firefox and Thunderbird of branch. Mac OS X 10.3.5 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; ja-JP; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041027 Firefox/1.0RC1 Thunderbird version 0.8 (20041027)
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
I can confirm this with Mozilla 2005010905 on Mac OS 10.3.7. However, the problem only seem to occur if the window you minimize is your only window. This looks sort of similar to bug 21296, so I'm reassigning to Core: XP Toolkits/Widgets: Menus.

oh? i've got several windows in the dock, and if there's no window open, the menubar window item stays hilited & ineffectual...
(In reply to comment #3) > oh? i've got several windows in the dock, and if there's no window open, the > menubar window item stays hilited & ineffectual... I was a bit unclear... It doesn't occur if you minimize a window and you have other windows open.
right, i should have specified "all windows minimized." the workaround is to always have a window open;-} i might try it on my daughter's powerbook w/windowshade when she gets up this afternoon;-) i haven't used it on mine since w.s.'s minimize-in-place played badly w/x11...
my daughter finally got up (ah, yoot;-) & pointed out that none of the menubar actions that should open a window (new, bookmark selection) actually does open a window:-( ok, windowshaded windows work just like open windows (because they're really open, just cut off below the titlebar;-) and minimized-in-place windows exhibit the bug (because they're really just minimized-not-in-dock)
