User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10

I have been coding in the JESS programming language, and whenever I attach a
jess file to a mail in thunderbird, it crashes while trying to send. I am using
thunderbird version 0.8 (20040928).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open compose window and adress mail to someone
2. Attach a JESS code file (try to cut and paste example code above into a text
file)
3. Press Send

Actual Results:
Thunderbird windows (both main and compose) disappeared with no error messages.
Mail was not sent.

Expected Results:
Mail should have been sent or appropriate message displayed

I am using Thunderbird 0.8 on Fedora Core 3 test 2. The about dialog shows the
version to be "version 0.8 (20040928)".
A very short and simple file that causes this bug.
do you have any file associations with jess files? On linux, I would guess
not... What's the name of the file exactly that you try to attach?

assignment1c.clp is the name of the file. Thunderbird crashes with any .clp
file. On attachment it shows the mime type as Application/Octet Stream.

Srikanth
is there some sort of java plugin that handles .clp files? Could this be
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223600 ? Do you see any errors on
the console before it crashes?

It is quite possibly related to this bug, because when I sent myself a mail with
a similar file attached, it crashed thunderbird on opening. Removing
libjavaplugin and retrying worked without any problem. However not having the
java plugin in the mozilla directory doesn't seem to be a solution to me. Why
does thunderbird use mozilla plugins anyway?
Heh, no, that's not a real solution. I notice that Scott has a patch in the bug,
but I don't know if it's been checked in or not...I'm going to mark this a dup,
however.
