Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040929 Firefox/0.10 StumbleUpon/1.998 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040929 Firefox/0.10 StumbleUpon/1.998 I ran firefox as root and installed the patch to 0.10.1 successfully because of course it didn't work as normal user which is fine. It seemed to install fine, but when I restarted firefox as a normal user, the red button is still there. And it still wants me to install the patch to 0.10.1 as well as quality feedback and developer and inspector. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade to 0.10.1 as root in Linux by clicking on the red button etc... 2. Restart firefox as normal user 3. Notice red button Actual Results: Red button is there, firefox still wants to install the upgrade Expected Results: Red button shouldn't be there, upgrade should be installed. NOTE: not sure if the problem is that the update wasn't installed successfully as root, or if the problem is that the normal user's prefs don't know that. The update appeared to install correctly when I installed as root, but who knows if it actually did.
This is similar to bug #262558 "Patch that upgrades to 0.10.1 installs with wrong permissions"

I agree that this bug is similar to Bug #262558, perhaps a dupe.
