Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910

When the mail/news viewer is set to view in threads and a thread is expanded,
highlighting the first message in the thread and pressing enter to open the
message collapses the thread. Double clicking the message does not do so, and
pressing enter on any other message in the thread (regardless of depth) does not
do so. This occurs both in version 1.7.3 and in a nightly 1.8 build on both Mac
OS X and Win XP. Pressing enter on a message should open the message only and
not chang ethe display of the thread (other than marking the message as read).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open mail/news
2. Display a list of messages in threads.
3. expand a thread containing multiple mssages
4. select the first message of the thread either with mouse or keyboard
5. Press enter to open the message

Actual Results:
Message opens and thread collapses in view.

Expected Results:
Messages open with no change to the thread view.
This is old behavior; I just checked 1.4 and it does the same thing, as does
Thunderbird.
