User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10 Several links on this site have popups that mozilla doesn't block. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Browse to http://www.drudgereport.com/ 2.Click on a link 3. Actual Results: popups occur. Expected Results: popups should have been blocked.
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1 I didn't see any pop-ups and Firefox claimed to have blocked one. Is your Firefox oldish?

I am running Firefox version 1.0 Preview Release. Also, I should note that just browsing to http://www.drudgereport.com/ won't cause the popups I am refering to but if you click on some of the links on the http://www.drudgereport.com/ web page you will get the popups that firefox won't block.
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041030 Firefox/0.9.1+ (Compiled using the standard instructions) I have clicked on some of the links, and got no pop-ups. Possibly the problems have been fixed unceremoniously by patches in the past ten days. Do you have a more specific recipe?
I'm curious. It appears you are testing on a Macintosh machine. Have you tried testing on a "Windows" machine? I am running Windows XP Professional with service pack 2.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040804 Firefox/0.9.3 No. I haven't tried on Windows. This Firefox from SuSE 9.1 (with updates); their version 0.9.3-1.4; and there were no pop-ups on some of the links. A simpler test case would help, it is possible that your problem is only seem on the branch you are using, or as you say, on your platform.
Do any of the developers there run windows xp so they can quickly install the firfox browser and verify the bug? Reguarding the test case I don't believe there is any way of making a simpler test case.

WFM ... I tested it and my FF 1.0 en-US blocked the popup and I don't get any others. Look at the source code. The site uses pop unders dependent on time (not link clicking?). http://code.fastclick.net/pu.js called with <!-- INTERMARKETS POP-UNDER CODE v2.0 for drudgereport.com --> ... <script language="javascript"><!-- var min_hour_frequency=12; var fastclick_site_id=8627; document.write('<scr'+'ipt language="javascript" '+ 'src="http://code.fastclick.net/pu.js"></scr'+'ipt>'); // --> </script> <!-- INTERMARKETS.COM POP-UNDER CODE v2.0 for drudgereport.com -->
Summary: Several links on this site have popups that mozilla doesn't block. → Several links on drudgereport.com have popups that Firefox doesn't block.
Not a fix, but you can download the "Adblock" extension and block the Fastclick.net script elements until somebody figures out a way to block this natively.
I am also having problems with this site, pop up ads show up whenever a link from drudgereport is clicked. Most recently, the ad was from tickle.
I forgot to mention that I have these popups and I am using Windows 2000 and firefox 1.0, so it isn't only people with prior to the 1.0 release. This only started happening this past week.

You are describing in your words the problem that this bug is all about. If you need help or support, you might want to go to http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1240477 .

Version: Trunk → 1.0 Branch
(In reply to comment #14) > See bug 253831 comment 231. Hmm ... I don't see anymore a fastclick script at this site (like in comment 8). So it seems not to be a dupe of bug 282931.
See bug 282722 comment 5. They use the onclick handler now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 263777 ***
