Messages will not open in their own window when either selecting them by double
clicking in the msg window, or when right-clicking and chosing OPEN MESSAGE IN
NEW WINDOW

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Thunderbird
2. Select email in Inbox folder
3. Right click on msg and choose OPEN MESSAGE IN NEW WINDOW

Actual Results:  
The mouse cursor turns to the "thinking" icon, but nothing happens. Then, when
you move the cursor away from that msg, it returns to the normal pointer.

Expected Results:  
Msg opens in new window.

NOTE: In TOOLS|OPTIONS|GENERAL, I have "Message Window Behaviour" set to "Open
new messages in a new message window"

(Someone posting in the Thunderbird forums of experiencing this problem with v
.90, however, I have not tested that version (dialup on this computer at the
moment) )

I have also experienced this problem, exactly as Robert reported. I am also
having regular (and likely related) problems when exiting Thunderbird -
apparently the process remains in memory and continues to check for mail so it
can notify me when new mail arrives. Upon clicking on a notification message
when new mail arrives, Thunderbird does not open any windows. Launching the
application from a shortcut also displays no windows. At this point, I have to
kill the app manually from the Task Manager. (In fact, I'm going to have to do
this now to get the version number.)

My environment: Windows XP, TB Version 1.0 (20041206)

Perhaps related: I run with 2 displays - the primary display is typically on the
RIGHT.

I have the same environement Windows XP SP2, TB Version 1.0 (20041206) FR, and
also same behaviours... I can't open messages in new window and TB sometimes
keep running after closing UI.

I didn't realize this bug was still open. Turns out if the problem was with an 
incompatible extention/theme that I had installed on my computer. Once I 
emptied out my Chrome folder, it worked just fine.
