After adding live bookmarks from BB news and Slate and closing the browser when
the borwser is opend again they become regular bookmarks to the sites main page. 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to http://news.bbc.co.uk
2.Clik on add live bookmark
3.close browser
4.open browser

Actual Results:  
Live bookmark now goes to BBC news main page

Expected Results:  
given all the head lines fromm RSS feed

I just had this occur with Firefox 1.0 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0).

I'm not at all sure what caused this.  I hadn't added a new live bookmark, I
just closed Firefox and when I restarted, my live bookmarks were regular
bookmarks.  Could having Mozilla using Firefox's bookmarks have something to do
with this?

If you have Mozilla set to use the same bookmarks file as Firefox, odds are it
removes the Livemark related attributes that it sees as invalid, making them act
like regular bookmarks when firefox is restarted.

Zach, do you use the same bookmark file for both Firefox and Mozilla?

The strange thing is that I've used Mozilla and Firefox together with the same
bookmarks file several times, and this is the first time this has occured.  The
only thing that was different was that this time I was using Chatzilla.

Updating summary to indicate the problem is due to sharing bookmarks with
Mozilla Suite. I think that this is not invalid, but a bug in (well, feature
request for) Mozilla. It should not strip livemarks data.

I can confirm that the problem still exists using Firefox "1.5 beta" (zipped
build) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20050926
Firefox/1.4

I changed my browser.bookmarks.file preference in Mozilla suite 1.7.12 (using
about:config) to my "out of profile" Firefox bookmark file location, 
D:\Mozilla\Firefox\bookmarks.html, so that Mozilla Suite was now using the
Firefox bookmarks file.  Once I closed Mozilla and opened Firefox, the  "live
bookmarks" that remained had turned into normal links instead of loading the
live bookmarks list.  I  then reopened Mozilla Suite, changed the
browser.bookmarks.file preference back to the previous setting (which was
D:\Mozilla\Shared\bookmarks.html) closed Mozilla Suite and restored a good copy
of my Firefox bookmarks file from backup to get RSS links working in Firefox again.
