Firefox users might prefer the option of forcing all new windows to open as new tabs, no matter how clearly the site specifies a "new window". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use any site that does "open in new window" when you click on a link. 2. Click on the link. 3. Actual Results: Open a new window. Expected Results: Opened a new tab.

This is *NOT* a duplicate of 78037! 78037 is attempting to suppress the creation of a new display object entirely, opening the link in the place that the page containing the link is currently displayed. I am suggesting a more subtle change, which is to allow a new page-renderer to be opened, but *IN A NEW TAB*, *NOT IN A NEW WINDOW*. These are not asking for the same feature, and I don't think they should be considered duplicates of each other.

Yes, it is not a dupe. This is already implemented for Firefox (see Bug 172962), only the UI is hidden per default (see Bug 266759). See http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/releases/1.0.html for the details. Is this that you want? Then it is WFM.
Oh! Okay, excellent. So, it is a dupe, but not of the bug that it was marked as a dupe of. And yes, that's exactly the feature I want. Overjoyed! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 172962 ***
