I don't see any problems on Win98 2000021108. Could you point to a specific page
of MSNBC or provide a screenshot displaying the problem?

Looks like problems with tables in LAYER tag. Marked Summary field.
Summary: Tables aren't being painted → [LAYER]Tables aren't being painted

INVALID. LAYER, ILAYER, document.layers[] not supported in Gecko/Seamonkey.
Closed. Notified site owner (twice) and also reporter via template at
http://sites.netscape.net/ekrock/fixit/layer.html
In the future, if possible, please INVALID, notify, and close such bugs directly
using that template without assigning to me. Thanks!

Moving all [LAYER] bugs to Evangelism component for tracking and open-source
evangelism by mozilla community members of sites that need to upgrade to support
web standards such as HTML 4.0 (instead of LAYER/ILAYER) and the W3C DOM
(instead of Nav4 document.layers[] or IE document.all()). Sites should be
lobbied to do the upgrade using the email templates that are linked to from
http://www.mozilla.org/newlayout/bugathon.html#layerbugs . When a site's owner
has confirmed receipt of the message requesting an upgrade, the bug should be
marked with the keyword evangelized to indicate that evangelism for that bug is
complete. When the site finishes the upgrade and supports standards, the bug
should be closed.

Removing the evangwanted keyword from 49 evangilizm bugs that also
have the evangelized keyword. Having both of these keywords on a bug
makes it really hard to do a query for all open evangilizm bugs that are
evangwanted. Sorry for the spam.

This site has upgraded their menu system to use dom 1 methods for it's menu
system and no longer has javascript errors in the page related to the
proprietary navigator 4 api.
They do still have javascript bugs unrelated to supporting Mozilla such as
Warning: test for equality (==) mistyped as assignment (=)?
Source File: http://www.msnbc.com/tools/nm/nmjs01.js
Line: 1, Column: 6
Source Code:
tWidth){dyCli=body.clientHeight;dxOff=body.scrollLeft;dyOff=body.scrollTop;}else{dxCli=window.innerWidth-14;dyCli=window.innerHeight-15;dxOff=window.pageXOffset;dyOff=window.pageYOffset;}var
oX=new nm_xy(o,body),xPar=oX.x,yPar=oX.y,dxPar=oX.dx,dyPar=oX.dy
JavaScript errors such as this are easily seen in Mozilla's JavaScript console
although other browsers do not detect and report them. (Another reason to use
Mozilla!)
Since the original issue related to layers is resolved, marking this bug fixed.
msnbc.com is to be congratulated on their upgrade to support the standards
related to the dom; however, this page still has many standards related issues
that may cause the display of the content not to match the designer's intent.
Viewing the output of
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.msnbc.com%2F&doctype=Inline
on this page shows the use of mixed xml like tags proprietary to Internet
Explorer, Invalid HTML nesting, Invalid Attributes, Invalid HTML Attribute
syntax (missing quotes), Invalid HTML comments, Invalid Characters, etc.
Viewing http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http://www.msnbc.com/
fails due to the invalid xml syntax in the document.
Note that this site may need to have other issues related to valid html and css,
plugins, etc investigated and bugs filed. If you do file multiple bugs on this
site please use a tracking bug to manage all issues reported on this site and to
file a separate evangelism bug on each specicific issue.
