After fresh install, I composed a text (non-HTML) message with some non-ASCII
chars. As the default encoding is ISO Latin-1, I got a "Confirm" dialog after
pressing "Send".

At the same time the "Sending Messages" dialog appeared, but above the "Confirm"
dialog. As the "Sending Messages" dialog is doing nothing ( displaying an
undefined-length progresss bar, the one with a bar moving right, then
disappearing and again moving right... ) it should be below the "Confirm"
dialog, maybe even with blocked user input.

The "Confirm" dialog says : non-ascii chars ... to send as UTF-8 click OK or
Cancel to return to composing.

Click Cancle in the "Sending Messages" dialog makes it disappear, but the
"Confirm" dialog is still there. If I click OK in it, it disappears and another
dialog appears, saying that sending the message failed and that I should check
my account settings.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Reporter, does the issue still occur with the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported Thunderbird version 2 is 2.0.0.16)
