The vCard standard supports geographical info as well as working day and time info.
It would be great to support this and use this info in the composition window
and the mail window. I.e. the selected message could display if and how long the
receiver/sender will be directly reachable. As an extension a worldmap with
daylight info might show the own position and the position of the other(s)
communicator.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Local information might also be included to update the current position (Typed
in: "Currently at a conference in San Francisco until ..." or later on via GPS,
etc). Specially in an international environment with many coworkers "on the
move" this would help to solve many dating problems.
Of course it is also interesting for the "Calendar" project!
It's not only useful for address book cards, but also for our own vCards (ie in
every account setting, there's the "Edit card" button).

And while we're on that, maybe it'd better include Daylight saving time
information too. However the worldmap seems to be too demanding.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

This still is an issue that becomes more interesting as soon the calendar
functions are associated with thunderbird.
The more Lightning/Sunbird evolves, the more this issue becomes important...

Reporter, does the issue still occur with the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported Thunderbird version 2 is 2.0.0.16)

I'm fairly sure this is something we've talked about as being wanted, although we'll need to flesh out the details a bit.

Actually I think the bigger issue here is the lack of vcard v3.0 support. We are missing more than just GEO and TZ, we are missing useful features like LOGO, AGENT, et al.

Not much work on this in a while but seems like a simple enough fix* and given the growth of mobile devices and the prevalence of vcards one would think v3 would have made it into TBird 3.

*No I am not a coder so no idea how simply it really is
