Please match do this, syncing w/ Windows release prefs. These are two of the
most annoying defaults I've ever encountered and are always the first things I
change when I install FF on a linux box. I see no reason for them to differ from
the Windows release.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Firefox on Linux.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Non-ideal defaults

Expected Results:
browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll true
middlemouse.contentLoadURL false

by default on Linux client, as w/ Windows.
No, sorry. Windows and Linux are different platforms and have different default
expectations. If you want to sync them, that's your choice, but we adhere to
platform defaults, not some sort of platform neutral configuration.

why is this set as WONTFIX when so many people have complained about it? it makes Firefox unusable on any Linux system with a middle mouse button. it should be an embarrassment to Firefox developers.
Dear complainers, I've opened Bug 572638 to suggest that the Linuxistic way to get text quickly into the URL and Search fields be made more obvious:

* For selecting all text in the URL field and activating it, press Ctrl-L.
* For selecting all text in the Internet search field and activating it, press Ctrl-K.

(Since the middle button is universally "paste" in different Linux programs for me, I don't have a beef with it not opening URLs in Firefox all of a sudden. I expect that's not the main common complaint either.)

I hope this helps. :)
