0.2, and same problem with the 0.2a
I cannot reproduce the problem.

This sounds like bug 248884 which was resolved fixed in November 2004 and should
be fixed in releases since then.

I am able to read a remote calendar larger than 64k, such as the example from
that bug: http://ical.mac.com/ical/DVDs.ics
Subscribing to that file (File | Subscribe to remote calendar) produces a 260K+
ics file in my Application Data/Mozilla/Sunbird/Profiles/.../Calendar/
directory. After it loads, and after selecting the "All Events" event list
filter, I am able to view the last event at the end of that file.

Are you sure the source file that is causing problems is not corrupted? (Use
browser context menu save-link-as... and examine the file)
If it is not corrupted, have you tried reloading the source file? (right click
on it in calendars tab, reload remote calendar)
Have you tried deleting and resubscribing?

If these don't work, can you provide more specific instructions to reproduce the
problem, and a link to a source file that exhibits the problem?
Version: unspecified → Sunbird 0.2RC2

I can reproduce the problem using Sunbird 0.2a on Linux, but not with Sunbird
0.2 on Windows.

When using Sunbird 0.2a on Linux, I try to subscribe to that DVD release ical
file I get an empty calendar in Sunbird and the local file that is created is
truncated to 65535 bytes like so:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 rday rday 65535 Aug 24 11:44 CalendarDataFile1.ics
