285628 - unable to open (view) attachments (attachments seem corrupted) when composed in 1.0.1

Description

found using 2005030902-1.0.1 tbird on mac os x 10.3.8.

1. I'm using plain text mail compose, fwiw: open a mail compose window, and
address it to yourself (for simplicity).

2. attach several files: I'll attach the sample Word, PDF and gif files I had used.

3. hit send, wait a few seconds, hit get mail. (I'm using IMAP, fwiw.)

results: I cannot open the attachments on either Mac or Linux, using 1.0.1
tbird. in Word (or OpenOffice on Linux), the content is garbled; in Preview (or
ggv on Linux), it won't display it all.

however, the gif file displays correctly.

also note: I tested this case by composing/sending in tbird 1.0, and did not
have a problem viewing any of the attachments in either tbird 1.0 or tbird 1.0.1

these area ll dupes of Bug #212123

we probably don't need any more regression bugs for these kinds of things. We
clearly need to back that bug out.

the bug that caused this has been backed out.

looks good with today's 1.0.2 (formerly 1.0.1) tbird builds on linux fc3 and mac.
