Details

On mac, some of the iWork software makes it so that every document is really a
package, or a directory.

like foo.key and foo.pages  (like Thunderbird.app is a package / directory_

here's the tbird issue, try to send someone a document and we will fail
(silently, I think).

Apple Mail handles these files by silently zipping them before sending.

perhaps tbird could do the same?

the flip side, david warns me, of auto unzipping a .zip could be a potential
security hole.   but maybe we could unzip when the user attempts to save or
detach the .zip?  something to keep in mind, since it is related.
