The Tabs in the Mac Pref Windows looks like Mac OS X 10.2 (and lower) Tabs. Apple has changed the 
Tab style in 10.3.

Thunderbird should use the new Tab-Style (or determinate which Mac OS Version is running and switch 
to the right style)
