User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050416 Fedora/1.0.3-2 Firefox/1.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050416 Fedora/1.0.3-2 Firefox/1.0.3 If I just click the middle button of the mouse when I viewing any webpage (even a blank page) the firefox browser automatically opens the following URL "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;247804" which displays the following message "How to Remove Linux and Install Windows on Your Computer" in bold letters !!! I think some crazy developer/hacker has done this !!! Please fix this issue FireFox version 1.0.3 , Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open a blank page in FireFox 1.0.3, on Linux x86 . 2.Place the mouse pointer on the blank page of the browser and press the middle button of mouse. 3.This will open the following URL "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;247804" Actual Results: Result is that the browser opens URL "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;247804" which displays the following message "How to Remove Linux and Install Windows on Your Computer" and steps to the same !!! Expected Results: Expected result must be as per user's configuration for the middle button. It must not open URL "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;247804"

Manju: What extensions, if any, do you have installed? Do you see the same behavior with a new, clean profile (run "firefox.exe -profilemanager" and create a new one and try to reproduce).

How long has this been happening? Did it start before or after you installed 1.0.3? Does it keep happening even after shutting down and restarting the browser? After you log out of your account and/or shut down and restart your machine? Do you have any extensions installed? If so, which ones? If you have extensions installed, does the problem persist if you start the browser in "safe mode"? That is, from the command line use the -safe-mode argument to launch without any extensions.

Could it simply be that he's got that URL in his clipboard and middle clicking is loading it?

I've seen this before many times. Most of the popular desktops will save the contents of your clipboard across login session. This means that whatever nonsense you happen to have in your clipboard, will either load the URL, or do a google search and bring the user to the first hit. A good example to try is to copy "http" into your clipboard, then middle click. It will bring you to www.microsoft.com if you have google as your default search engine. This caused me much confusion several months back.
