my disk was full when thunderbird started to get new messages from my POP account. 

first: it didn't tell me anything about missing disk space, but that bug has
been reported already. 

second: TB downloads all the old messages which have been kept in the POP
account. so I have a lot of duplicates in my inbox.

third: with one message in particular I found that TB corrupted its database. I
guess that the disk was full at that specific message. the result is that the
summary in the message list is still showing the values of the old message but
the message itself is partly overwritten with another one. so once you klick on
the message to see the details, they and the beginning of the body are of
another message and somewhere in the body the rest of the old message can be seen.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. leave messages in your POP account
2. make your disk full
3. get new messages

Actual Results:

Expected Results:  
show error about disk space and take care of message database
