Need: View -> Messages -> Watched Thread (WITHOUT Unread)
When i want to see my watched threads, i prefer to see ALL my watched threads
(not just the unread ones). This is very useful for reviewing threads that are
relevant to me and where i might need to "encourage" a response or where i need
to find alternate solutions because no-one is responding to a perticulat thread
in that newsgroup. It is also useful for reviewing *all* topics I have posted
on, to jar my memory on things i may have forgotten.
Please either change to: View -> *Messages -> Watched Thread (WITHOUT Unread)*
or add the *(WITHOUT Unread)* as an item to the menu. :)
*View -> Messages -> Watched Thread (WITHOUT Unread)*
The menu could look like this:
SUB-MENU (View - Messages):
+-----------------------------+
All
Unread
Threads with unread
| Watched Threads |<-----This one !!!
Watched Threads with Unread
+-----------------------------+
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go View > Threads in the menu.
Actual Results:
See that there's only one entry for Watched Threads, namely "Watched Threads
with Unread". The entry "Watched Threads" is missing.
Expected Results:
There should be an entry "Watched Threads" or "Watched Threads - All", to view
all watched threads in the current mail or news folder.

This is the same as Seamonkey bug 73562, as reporter is probably aware since
some of the text appears to have been copied from that bug. In reality, that
rfe should probably be under Core::Mailnews:Backend and this one marked a dupe
of that, but I'll just set up a dependency and confirm.

I don't know if this is a Core::Mailnews:Backend or rather
Core::Mailnews:Filters, but either way would be fine with me (change bug 73562
and dupe this one to it). Anything to get some traction on this/these bug(s).
BTW: OS is at *least* "Windows XP".

I suggest making a comment somewhere in the bug dialogue, to tell a reporting
user that "fixing" this bug makes it fixed in e. g. Thunderbird also, not just
in Seamonkey. I for one have no idea whether fixing it in the one will make it
fixed in the other too.

Seamonkey bug 184231 ("watched" in "view" dropdown) complements bug 73562.
I wonder: is there already a Thunderbird bug about the "view" dropdown that complements this bug here? If not, I'd file a copy of 184231 for Thunderbird?

Please change: Hardware/OS = All/All
Please correct Summary to:
Need: View -> Threads -> Watched Thread (ALL, not just "Unread")
Correction to Comment 0: We need: View -> Threads -> Watched Thread
Requesting fix by Thunderbird 2.0 (1 hour to fix?)

BTW: I just filed a bug on another messages display issue in the "View" menu: bug 332802.

In bug 207862 comment 5 I mention a tangential issue which I'll repeat here before possibly making a new bug, because I don't think it's the same as this bug.
Watched is so one can monitor threads. Some simple examples:
1. a reminder to answer someone's question in a few days if no one else has answered.
2. I posted a question, and I want to post new info in a couple days
3. I want to see all the activity from a watched thread, read and unread, in
context with other messages in a newsgroup.
So I want to see watched unread and watched read messages shown WITH unwatched thread's unread messages. The utility of "watched" is diminished if one loses track of the watched threads through inactivity and also if it doesn't have a view option that puts it on par with displaying unwatched threads with new posts, so that both can be displayed.
In short, it can be useful to see watched threads that don't have new posts with the common activity of reading unread messages. For me, "view watch ALL" by itself is not sufficient.

doesn't look like we've gotten traction on this yet.

Scott: Could we assign *some* "Priority" to this bug? Even "P5" might help.

At least this enhancement request has not yet expired like bug #244680 which suggests to create a filter for watched threads.

Just updated to TB 2.0.0.6, not fixed there at least. Wondering what the status "blocking‑thunderbird2" means.

It's a flag. Someone nominated this bug to block Tb2, by setting blocking‑thunderbird2 to '?'. MScott then changed it to '-' to indicate that this was not going to block the release of Tb2. If the flag has a '+', that means it was approved as a blocker.

inability to easily see ALL watched threads makes follow up with old but "unfinished business" <difficult>
