Currently, for me, Thunderbird only shows unread mail messages in the dock. I want it to show unread 
news messages in my subscribed newsgroups in the dock.

Is TB really supposed to show unread news messages in the dock icon? I can't find this written anywhere. I suppose the "unread messages in the dock icon" is just meant to be a mail feature, so this should actually be an enhancement request, not a bug report.

Not sure if I should post a new issue about this or not, but this should also happen for RSS items. Most RSS aggregators support this on OS X and since the New Messages notification appears in the folder pane of Thunderbird, I would expect it to show up elsewhere, like on the dock icon.
