Details

Importing large files takes substantial amount of time that the program can
appear to have hung during.  A progress dialog would help substantially.

Try importing the calendar attached to bug 284095 to test.

Sunbird takes 55s to load the .ics file, during which I'd agree the program had seemingly hung, with the spinning circle in 10.5. It'll be nice to have a progress dialog.
