304923 - Extensions do not work; bookmarks do not appear in bookmarks menu

Extensions do not work. I have recreated my profile and reinstalled extensions,
to no avail. In the Extensions Manager, installed extensions do appear to be
function, yet they do nothing. Furthermore, the javascript console shows this error:

Also (I believe this bug is directly related) bookmarks do not appear in the
bookmarks menu until Bookmarks-Manage Bookmarks is opened, then they all appear.
These bugs only occur when using Firefox compiled from CVS. I use the trunk.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start firefox
2. Try to use an extension (adblock, nightly tester tools, etc)
3. Look at the bookmarks menu

Actual Results:  
Extensions do not work.
No bookmarks appear in the bookmarks menu.

Expected Results:  
Extensions should work.
Bookmarks should appear in the bookmarks menu without having to open the
Bookmarks Manager

I use some pretty cutting edge software (I don't believe this is relevant, but
you ask for system info):
GTK+ 2.8
Pango 1.1
Cairo 0.9.2
I use the Cairo patch from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302699
I run Gentoo 2005.1.
I also have friends who have this issue who run less psychotic software.
