There is just simply nothing copied into the memory. When pasting into (for example) notepad, I get older information that was copied before copying the URL. Also, when coppying a link location via the right-click menu nothing is copied. This is very strange and very annoying. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Copy a URL or a Link Location using the right-click menu. Actual Results: There was nothing copied into the memory. Expected Results: Copy the information to the clipboard. I am using the Mozilla FireFox Bèta 1.
I've forgotten to add that this bug appears at two completely different machines of me (WinXP Home and WinXP Prof). These machines are also in two completely different locations and networks.

Rick, could you please test this in one of the latest builds to see if the patch for bug 305032 fixed this? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/
Copy and Paste - Bug in Firefox (Different versions, different OS) https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=220900 Workaround not working for copy & paste - bug (In reply to comment #142) *To run clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) does not solve the copy and paste problem, neither does opening in a new window. *Only workaround for me is to copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad, swich to the new pad, copy from anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich windows before the second copy and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again *argh*. Awful if you work with tabs, wikis or anything. *Other workaround is to work with one instance of firefox and do all copy and paste operations from or 2 opera... *Drag and Drop sometimes works too... Situation: Copy and paste between different tabs or windows does not work at all (100%). This problem does not affect other applications, just firefox. It seems that the clipboard is deleted (for security reasons?!) when swiching from one tab/window to another, but not when working with external programs... System: WinXP_Pro_SP1, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 (happened in the earlier version I had installed 2), Extensions: DOM Inspector, Wikipedia, Greasemonkey, CopyPlainText (tried is as a solution for the copy and paste problem), RoboForm; Unsuccessful tries: 1.Reinstalling after cleaning all data from previous installs 2.New User Profile 3.Open Clipboard 4.CopyPlainText (tried is as a solution for the copy and paste problem) 5.Work only with Firefox Windows, not with tabs 6.Upgrade to Firefox 1.0.7 7.Playing around with security settings ---- Suggested workarounds thus far (comment #142): 1. Open the current page in a new window (I usually just open any page in a new window and check copy/paste there). 2. Start -> Run -> clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) 3.Copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad, swich to the new pad, copy from anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich windows before the second copy and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again 4.Work with one instance of firefox and do all copy and paste operations from or 2 opera... 5.Drag and Drop sometimes works too...

There's a possibility that the FlashBlock extension causes this problem for most people. The FlashBlock autoupdate on 1.0.4 adn later caused chrome corruption. FlashBlock 1.5 supposedly fixes this bug, but I've tried just about everything, and once you have this ugly bug, you're pretty much stuck with it.

(In reply to comment #8) > I still frequently see this in Firefox 1.5.0.1 > As far I can see, it is fixed in Firefox 2.0a ... but unfortunately, it's not fixed in firefox 1.5.0.2 . Please fix that for 1.5.0.3 !

I can confirm that this bug still exists in Firefox 1.5.0.2 with all updates (as of april 26, 2006). Tested on Windows XP. I have had this problem many times before. It seems to get 'triggered' sometimes, usually by switching between apps. Personally I have had it most when switching between local machine and remote desktop connection, but it also happens in other situations. After it's triggered copy does not work anymore. You can 'untrigger' it by switching between tabs / opening a new tab and copy something from there. Very hard to reproduce, but it definitely exists!
