I'm not sure if this can be done at the Mozilla end, or whether it requires work
by the ICQ team, but...

It'd be nice if Mozilla could make the current URL available to ICQ in the same
manner that Communicator 4.x did. ICQ has an option to send someone a URL link.
Normally the URL and description fields are blank... but if the user has a
Communicator 4.x window on a page, ICQ will fill in the URL automatically with
that of the active window, and put the title of the page into the description of
the link you were about to send. Currently (and understandably), this does not
work in Mozilla. If it's possible to simply make the same info available in an
identical manner as 4.x so ICQ doesn't notice the difference, that'd be really
useful. I have a feeling I might be out of luck, and it requires support from
ICQ for the specific browser... but hey, it's worth a shot...

No no, thats not simply a "would be nice to have" feature...I think that being
left out will cripple a lot of functionality. Someone from Netscape should tell
you how they did it, so GetRight, ICQ and many more programs could interact.

I think its about DDE support probably...but Netscape and IE both have that
support by default and its gotta be a standart, not some browser specific thing!

Anyone that actually uses ICQ and GetRight and stuff they know what I am talking
bout. This has now been ticking me off for a while already.

In my opinion this should receive a 'bug' status again and should be assigned
to the general browser team again, since its something that doesn't work
anymore...
Adding the 4xp keyword as this is a product parity issue (loss of functionality
from previous 4.x versions of Netscape Communicator).

With Netscape and ICQ both being owned by AOL having this loss of functionality
between these products sounds like a bad move. Personally I think it should be
fixed if other apps depend on this functionality but I don't consider this to be
a serious bug personally, but then I use Linux most of the time and think the
official Windows ICQ client is an example of how not to design software from a
usability perspective so I just don't use it. But many do and it can only be
conidered embarassing if one AOL app (ICQ) can't interact with another (Netscape
6) but previous versions could and so can rival browsers (IE).

mIRC uses this feature too (//echo $url).

Oppositely, when I receive an URL, and click Open (in ICQ)
the mozilla works successfully but ICQ still say, "Unable to launch browser".
Is it setting problems?
Supporting the GetRight download manager is bug 58744. I think GetRight uses a
different mechinism than the one mIRC, ICQ, and AIM use, since GetRight is a
download manager and the others just get the page URL and title of a browser
window.

To reproduce this bug with AIM: close all browsers other than Mozilla. Open an
IM window, select "link" from the toolbar (or Insert > Web Link), and click
the "Use current" button. AIM will complain that no web browser is running.
This bug has been reported 2 years ago and it hasn't yet been solved. This is
serious. This is one of those bugs that any normal Windows user that runs ICQ,
AIM, MSN will notice immediately.
Will bug 136188 fix this?
Yes, I believe it will.
OK, marking as a dependency, when that bug is fixed then someone can verify that
this works and mark this as fixed too.
Depends on: 136188
The fix for bug 136188 was checked in yesterday and I'm still not getting the
URL listing in ICQ like I did in Netscape 4.x. There must be more to it.

Mozilla build 2002050108.
ICQ 2002a Build #3727.
This is indeed nscatfood worthy.
