Thunderbird should read his own files. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Save a Thunderbird mail as eml-file 2.close Thunderbird 3.doubleclick on the file in the explorer Actual Results: Outlook Express starts Expected Results: Thunderbird should start Its a blocker, cause it was promised to solve this problem with 1.5. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242959 isnt fixed in the German version 1.5beta2 (20051006)
you need to re-register thunderbird as the default email handler - that's the process whereby we register for the .eml extension.
Yes that works. But that can't be the way for normal users, who have 1.0.7 as the standard mailhandler defined and upgrade to 1.5.

windows already has a standard way to register file extensions built right into the file system explorer. This is not a blocker.

If you uninstall 1.0.7 first and then install 1.5, it would re-register wouldn't it? If you install on top of the old installation it doesn't, IIRC.
No, it didn't work with WinNT. But setting two registry entries manually (eml_auto_file) did the job. So I assume, it's a problem only with my system. Changed resolution to invalid. Thanks for comments. Peter
