Build Identifier: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.5rc1&os=linux&lang=en-US
When you click on update in the menu (not the extansions update) Firefox tells you there is an update available and then points you to the 1.5 Beat 1 page
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.open firefox
2.click on update in the menu
3.
Actual Results:
presented with link to beta 1 page
Expected Results:
since RC 1 is the newest version, there should be no updates so far, and definetly not beta 1
This was done early in the morning (12 am - 2am) on Nov 2nd right after RC1 was released. I dont have access to and RC1 install at the moment (school linux terminal) so this might have just been a problem at that time, and has now been fixed server side. But strange that it didnt point to atleast beta 2...

This isn't a dup of 314690. This is apparently a problem going from the 1.0 branch to 1.5.

Steps to reproduce in Firefox 1.5 Beta 2:
1. Under "Tools": "Options": "Advanced": "Update": "When updates are found", set Firefox to "Ask me what I want to do".
2. Either wait for Firefox to check for updates automatically, or in the "Help" menu, select "Check for Updates...".
3. When the Software Update dialog box finishes searching for updates and asks you what you want to do, click on "View more information about this update".
Expected behavior: you get sent to a page about a version later than 1.5 Beta 2.
Actual behavior: you get sent to the page for Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 ("What's New in Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 (Deer Park)").

Seems to be fixed in Firefox 1.5 RC1.
Lucius, you're talking about bug 314690. This bug is about updating from the 1.0 branch.

Ben T, I don't understand. If you check for updates in Firefox 1.0.7 then nothing is offered. This seems much more like comment #3 (and part of bug 314690)to me. Please clarify what you think the bug is. Steps to reproduce ?

Comment #0 suggests that a Firefox 1.0.7 Linux build offered a 1.5 beta1 update. I haven't confirmed the bug because I haven't had a chance to test it yet. The reporter agrees that this shouldn't happen:

Ben T, updates have been Windows only since version 1.0
https://aus.mozilla.org/update/firefox/en-US.rdf?235
Reporter, can you please clarify your original report. When do you get a page describing 1.5b1 ? After clicking the details link when the updater offers you "Firefox 1.5" ?
Resolving this unless anyone objects.
