Occasionnally, the icons in the bookmarks folder disappear. They are all minimised to the left into one arrow. The arrow has to be clicked so that a list of alll the bookmarked icons are displayed in the list. Firefox has to be restarted to allow the bookmarks toolbar to reappear with all the icons.

This is probably bug 266737 (which happens when you minimize Firefox). That bug is already fixed in Firefox 1.5 RC1.
