** Observed with 3/10/2000 Win32 build **
Thi sproblem was discovered on a Japanese Labg pack build.
When you translate the following items into Japanese:
# VCARD_LDAP_FAX_TYPE
1010=XXXX
# VCARD_LDAP_WORK_TYPE
1006=YYYY
# VCARD_LDAP_USEHTML
1048=ZZZZ
you get "diamond symbols" instead of the real Japanese characters.
The file is: vcard.properties in escaped Unicode.
Some other strings used by vCard file seems to be OK when translated.
(I don't have an example where all the strings used in the vCard
display and so I can't give you a complete listing.)
Use the 2nd test message in the Intl Smoketest file which contains
a vCard sample.
We probably need to keep these items in English for JPN Beta 1.

You can see the problem with the above attachment (vcard.properties file).
The 3 items mentioned are in Japanese encoded in escaped Unicode.

Corrected the summary since the "Fax" example was made up
for a debugging purpose but not tranalsted in the JPN Lang pack.
Summary: vCard categories "Fax" and "Work" display corrupted when translated into Japanese → vCard categories "HTML Mail" and "Work" display corrupted when translated into Japanese

Ok, I have this fixed in my tree, BUT there is another bug (Bug #: 31748) which
is preventing me from seeing the buttons to expand the vcard. I hacked it up to
fix this problem, but obviously we need the other fix before this is working
again 100%.

Depends on: 31748

Will verify when Bug 31748 is fixed. At present, we cannot
see the "expand" button.

For some reason, the resolution is showing up as blank.
I'll re-open and resolve it again to see "fixed".

Sorry, this has slipped through since I was away in Japan
during the ast half of April.
I checked this bug against 5/10/2000 Win32 build
with the modified vacrd.properties file.
The original porblem reported here is now fixed.
I found another bug in vCard display but will file
as a separate bug.
Marking it verified as fixed.

** Re-checked with 7/5/2000 Win32 M17 build **
For some strange reason, this problem is now back.
The problem was definitely fixed at M15. But with the above
build, using the same file I attached above for
vcard.properties file, Work and Fax categoruy names
are not showing as Japanese any more. "Use HTML" seems
to be OK, however.
This is needed for proper localization into other
langauges for Beta 2. As this is a regression from M15/PR1, I
will mark this nsbeta2.

Ok, I fixed this one.
Naoki: it was that change you made. You may want to re-address that problem
that was "fixed" by your change in mimevcrd.cpp. That flag is there
specifically to address this bug.

Okay, we need to convert the value separately from the label before they are
combined.
Momoi san, could you find the old bug about full-width phone number bug and
reopend it?

is this really fixed? With 7/25/2000 Win32 build, I still see the same problem as before.

There is nothing wrong with the category names.
Seems this is not the bug I should have re-opened.
But I think there was a bug about the JPN
numbers not showing correctly for Phone and Fx categories.
Please take a look teh image below and see if you recall that bug.

No, I don't know what bug that is. Please close this bug out and reopen a new
one so I don't have red flags on my name as we try to close out nsbeta2+
issues.
