Hi,
Thunderbird refuses to send email to addresses which aren't of the form 'user@domain'. This is actually perfectly valid inside my company (or on intranets in general?), so it completely stops me using thunderbird unless I type in the @domain part of everyone's email address, which is tedious when I'm composing a message, and downright annoying when I'm doing a reply-all and have to go and edit everyone's email address.
Please remove this check (or at least provide an option like "check valid email addresses" so I can turn it off), as it is not logically correct - the domain is NOT always required, nor does having the domain imply that the address is valid.
Thanks,
Graeme.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bring up the compose window
2. Type in an email address such as 'somebody' (ie. without a domain)
3. Click 'send'
Actual Results:
A popup dialog appears and says:
"somebody is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the email".
I cannot send the mail until I add a domain name to the email address.
Expected Results:
The email should send as it does in 1.0.7, but it does not.

you're better off just turning back on automatic autocomplete to your domain,
e.g.,
pref("mail.identity.default.autocompleteToMyDomain", true);
in user.js
or tweak your individual identities in prefs.js.

Hi David,
Thank you for your fast response. This MOSTLY restores the functionality from 1.0.7, in that it automatically puts the correct domain onto new emails I compose, but if I'm replying to someone where the email address does not contain a domain name, it is not added, so I get the same warning. I then need to manually edit the email addresses.
Was this option you mentioned something that was turned on in 1.0.7? I'm just concerned that others in the same boat are never going to know about this option unless they stumble across this bug report...
Thanks again,
Graeme.

Yes, this definitely looks like a duplicate of 312818. Sorry I didn't find it when I was originally looking to see if this bug had already been filed.
Best regards,
Graeme.
